To say the COVID-19 pandemic has hit small businesses hard is an understatement. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, a staggering 3.3 million businesses – or 22% – shut down from February to April. Unfortunately, the pandemic has only worsened existing disparities, and that same report estimates that 41% of Black-owned businesses may close this year. This would be devastating for the entire economy and all of our small businesses, entrepreneurs, and workers. But you can help reverse that trend and make a difference.
Every Friday, we’re encouraging everyone to #BuyBlack and support our local, Black-owned businesses with their dollars. By discovering Black-owned businesses, you’re going to discover unique and special products, food, and services that you may not have been aware of before. Many of these businesses offer convenient and safe curbside pickup, as well as fast, local delivery.
Instead of shopping on Amazon or a big national chain, find something different and better by shopping and dining at a Black-owned small business. Remember, your choices matter. Every dollar you spend locally supports people and places in your community. View our Black-owned business directories below and find new products and places you’ll love!
